The Blitz

The “Blitz” is based on the German word for lightning. The full word is blitzkrieg. And that word sums it all up, because every single night they dropped bombs on London. Over 60,000 people died by the end of the blitz. Yet in Germany, over 305,000 people were killed through bombs.

Zeppelin’s Attack

Zeppelins are basically giant blimps that carry bombs. They were only used twice during the war because it was very easy for the British to shoot them down.

The Air Raid

Imagine this. You hear a loud siren siring across the city and panic arises and everyone runs as fast as they can to the nearest shelter. Having to wait for hours at a time before its safe to go outside only to see the destruction of their town.
